50 MEUR overhaul of unit A5 on TENT A power plant, project preparation

Preparation  meeting for A5 unit overhaul project was attended by members of the TENT management and representatives of many (about 20) construction companies from our contry and abroad (Hitachi Power Europe, Doosan Power Systems, Alstom, Minel-kotlogradnja, PRO TENT, Gosa, IZOPROGRES Institute “Nikola Tesla” and etc.).

At a meeting of major participants of the project, held on the 23 May in the Thermal Power Plant “Nikola Tesla A” it was announced that the revitalization ?f the unit TENT A-5 starts on the 1June and it will last until the 30 September, 2012. Total value of the project is more than 50 million euros.

The meeting was attended by members of the TENT management and representatives of many (about 20) construction companies from our contry and abroad (Hitachi Power Europe, Doosan Power Systems, Alstom, Minel-kotlogradnja, PRO TENT, Gosa, IZOPROGRES Institute “Nikola Tesla” and etc.).

According to Petar Knezevic, the director of  TENT, this year’s revitalization of the Unit A-5 is one of the most complex and most important operations performed so far in TENT. Reasons for entering in this project are the extension of operational life, improvement of  the availability, reliability and safety of work, capacity increase and energy efficiency, as well as reducing adverse effects on the environment.

– Four months is a very short period for these kinds of works, but we believe that the major overhaul of the unit A-5 will be finished efficiently and according to the time schedule , with maximum involvement of participants and good organization of work, , said Knezevic.

This year, with an installed capacity of 308.5 MW, Unit A-5 celebrates 33 years of work. It has close to 210 thousand hours of work on the grid and it has delivered about 52.5 billion kwh of electricity to the EES. Its previous revitalization was completed in 2004.

Within the revitalization of the Unit A-5 , the replacement of approximately 700 tons of material on the boiler tube system is envisaged, where the most of the work will take place, said Gli
