The Albanian electricity exchange ALPEX reported that the total volume of electricity traded on the day-ahead market reached 186.97 GWh in January 2026, marking a 10.9% increase compared to the previous month and a sharp 89.5% rise compared to January 2025.
Of the total traded volume, 123 GWh was recorded in the Kosovo bidding zone, while 121.2 GWh was traded in the Albania bidding zone. The average market clearing price stood at 93.54 euros/MWh for the Albania zone and 101.65 euros/MWh for the Kosovo zone, resulting in an overall ALPEX average price of 97.15 euros/MWh.
The total value of transactions on ALPEX in January amounted to approximately 37.3 million euros, representing a strong 24.7% year-on-year increase.
Founded in October 2020 by Albania’s transmission system operator OST and its Kosovo counterpart KOSTT, ALPEX organized its first Albanian auction in April 2023. The exchange currently counts 36 members across the bidding zones of Albania and Kosovo.
