The Albanian Government has approved the development of a large-scale solar project, paving the way for a 95 MW solar power plant to be built in the village of Synej in the central part of the country. The decision marks another step in Albania’s efforts to expand its domestic renewable energy capacity.
The project will be carried out by Select Energy, a locally established special purpose vehicle. Under the agreed terms, the company must complete construction and bring the solar plant into operation within a three-year deadline.
Once the facility becomes operational, Select Energy will hold the right to run the plant for up to 49 years, underscoring Albania’s long-term strategy to scale up renewable generation and encourage private investment in the growing solar sector.
