Vau Dejes HPP will undergo a complete reconstruction to minimize flooding which is repeated every year due to the depreciation.
The Albanian government has borrowed a sum of 20 million euros provided by the German Development Bank, KFW, the guarantee of the Federal Republic of Germany, which will be invested for the project “Water Energy and safety of dams on the Drin river HPPs”. Debt Agreement, which is published in the Official Journal will be implemented by the Albanian Power Corporation.
This intervention will increase security in the river cascade and will allow safe management of flows into the River Drin.
Debt repayment term is up in June 2027. This is the first intervention since the construction of the power plant in 1970, which is one of the most important works of the Albanian energy system.
