The Albanian energy ministry will award a concession for the construction of the Dobrenje-Tomorrice hydro power plant in the Berat region, central Albania, in line with a decision adopted by the government, the cabinet’s press office reported. The project will be implemented under a build, operate and transfer (BOT) contract. The output of privately-held small hydropower plants in Albania surged by 62.4% y/y to 157 GWh in H1 2012, according to the latest data from statistics office. Their share in the country’s total energy generation stood at 7.5% in H1, up from 3.9% a year earlier.
