Voltalia’s 140 MW Karavasta solar plant in Albania generated 132 GWh of electricity in the first half of 2026, broadly unchanged from the same period a year earlier, as the French renewable developer continues to build out its Albanian portfolio.
Karavasta, in southwestern Albania, began producing electricity in December 2023. Half of its annual output is sold to distribution operator OSHEE under a 15-year power purchase agreement, while the balance is contracted to private buyers under long-term arrangements.
The structure gives Voltalia a combination of contracted state-backed demand and private-market exposure, reducing the plant’s dependence on short-term wholesale prices.
Voltalia is also developing the 100 MW Spitalle solar project, where construction was announced in 2024. The project received a 30-year generation licence in late 2025, extending the company’s position in a market where utility-scale solar is becoming an increasingly significant part of Albania’s generation mix.
