French renewable energy company Voltalia announced that its 140 MW Karavasta solar power plant in southwestern Albania generated a total of 39 GWh of electricity in the first quarter of 2026, roughly in line with output recorded in the same period last year.
The plant began producing electricity in December 2023, marking an important step in Albania’s renewable energy expansion and strengthening the country’s solar generation capacity.
Half of the plant’s annual output is supplied to Albania’s electricity distribution system operator OSHEE under a 15-year power purchase agreement, while the remaining half is allocated to private operators through long-term contracts.
In early 2024, Voltalia launched the construction of another 100 MW solar power project in the Spitalle region. By late 2025, the project secured a 30-year electricity generation license, further reinforcing the company’s long-term presence in the Albanian energy market.
