According to data published by the Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), electricity production in 2025 amounted to 7,468 GWh, which is 4.7% lower compared to the previous year (7,837 GWh).
The country’s electricity exports increased in 2025, reaching 2,498 GWh, compared to 2,335 GWh in 2024, while electricity imports rose to 3,375 GWh from 2,669 GWh the previous year.
Hydropower plants operated by the state-owned power utility KESH generated 3,374 GWh of electricity in 2025, which is 17.4% lower compared to 2024, while independent hydropower producers generated 3,109 GWh (-4.2%). Regarding renewables, wind and solar generated a total of 984 GWh, representing a 94% increase year-on-year.
Albania’s total electricity consumption rose by 3% in 2025, reaching 6,752 GWh. Losses in the electricity network amounted to 1,593 GWh, a 1.3% decrease compared to 2024.
