Gross electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina reached 1,282 GWh in June 2023, compared to 1,149 GWh in the same month of 2022, according to the Agency for Statistics.
In gross electricity production, hydropower plants participated with a share of 44%, thermal power plants with 53% and solar and wind power plants with 3%. Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 560 GWh in June, 83% higher than in the same month in 2022. Thermal production amounted to 609 GWh, 16% less than last June. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 39 GWh.
Electricity imports dropped by 18% to 265 GWh in June 2023 from last year’s 323 GWh, while exports rose by 32% to 703 GWh (533 GWh in June 2022).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 405,000 tons in June 2023, which is 27% less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 20%, to 449,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in June amounted to 9.27 million cubic meters, which is 19% more than in the same month last year.
