Elektroprivreda BiH submitted to the Electricity Regulatory Commission (FERK) a request for a change in electricity prices for categories of households and other consumption, with a proposal for a price model.
FERK must approve the request and the deadline for its decision is 60 days.
EPBiH Director Sanel Buljubasic explained that each consumer will be allocated to one of these tariff ranges based on their consumption. According to calculations, 60% or 430,000 households would not fall into any of the higher categories. For them, the price of electricity would remain unchanged.
Buljubasic said that the company is introducing block tariffs due to poor financial situation. This year would be especially difficult because EPBiH will not have any surplus electricity for export. Before, when more thermal units were in operation, there were surpluses, but now, due to problems in the coal supply, the situation is completely different. He said that the company expects that the issues with coal supply will be resolved in 2026.
