Two companies have submitted bids for the design and construction of the Šepak–Novi Grad main gas pipeline, a flagship infrastructure project initiated by Sarajevo-gas from Istočno Sarajevo. The bidders include Turkish construction firm Vemak İnşaat and Konvar, acting on behalf of a consortium of companies from Serbia and the Republic of Srpska (RS).
According to Sarajevo-gas director Nedeljko Elek, the tender process has entered its first evaluation phase, which involves a detailed review of technical documentation, licenses, and compliance requirements. Only bidders that successfully meet these criteria will advance to the next stage, where financial offers will be opened and evaluated.
The tender, launched at the end of last year, is valued at approximately €450 million excluding VAT, making it one of the largest energy infrastructure investments ever planned in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Project documentation confirms that the contract covers the entire scope of works, including pipeline design, construction along the full route, and all necessary civil engineering and specialized technical activities required for completion.
The contract will be awarded based on the lowest offered price, provided that all technical and administrative conditions are fulfilled. The planned pipeline largely follows the route of the Eastern Gas Interconnection, a long-discussed project regarded as a key pillar of future gas infrastructure development in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
