According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,473 GWh in April 2022, compared to 1,299 GWh in the same month last year.
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 32.4 %, thermal power plants with 64.5 % and solar and wind power plants with 3.1 %.
Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 474 GWh in April 2022, which is by 7.1 % lower than in the same month in 2021. Thermal production amounted to 854 GWh, which is 27.3 % more than last April. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 56 GWh, 43.6 % more than last year.
Electricity imports dropped by 30.6 % to 222 GWh in April from last year’s 320 GWh, while exports rose by 14.8 % to 675 GWh (588 GWh in April 2021).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 627,000 tons in April 2022, which is by 6.8 % more compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 46.1 % and amounted to 507,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in April 2022 amounted to 21.41 million cubic meters, 7.9 % less compared to a year before (23.24 million cubic meters).
