According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,808 GWh in December 2021, compared to 1,673 GWh in the same month last year.
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 45.4 %, thermal power plants with 51.7 % and solar and wind power plants with 2.9 %.
Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 804 GWh in December 2021, which is by 41.3 % higher than in the same month in 2020. Thermal production amounted to 841 GWh, which is 12.6 % less than last December. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 52 GWh, 116 % more than last year.
Electricity imports dropped by 31.5 % to 254 GWh in December from last year’s 371 GWh, while exports decreased slightly to 829 GWh (832 GWh in December 2020).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 674,000 tons in December 2021, which is by 2.5 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 12.1 % and amounted to 508,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in December 2021 amounted to 35.55 million cubic meters, 16.8 % more compared to a year before (30.43 million cubic meters).
