In July, gross electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to 1,231 GWh, compared to 1,458 GWh in the same month last year, according to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 23.1 %, thermal power plants with 75.2 % and solar and wind power plants with 1.7 %. Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 283 GWh in July 2020, which is 21.6 % less than in the same month in 2019. Thermal production amounted to 836 GWh, which is 13.2 % less than last July. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 21 GWh. Electricity imports rose to 313 GWh in July from last year’s 176 GWh, while exports dropped by 1.9 % to 563 GWh (574 GWh in July 2019). Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 468,000 tons in July 2020, which is 28.4 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 8.3 % and amounted to 511,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in July 2020 amounted to 7.364 million cubic meters, which is 21.4 % less than a year before.
