Hydropower plant Višegrad generated 30.27 GWh of electricity in July 2026, down 31.2% from 44.02 GWh in June, highlighting the sensitivity of regional hydro production to changing hydrological conditions.
Despite the month-on-month decline, output remained above the 25.11 GWh produced in July 2025.
Cumulative production in 2026 reached 657.78 GWh, putting the plant on a relatively strong annual trajectory compared with recent years. Višegrad produced 781.8 GWh in 2025, up from 733 GWh in 2024.
The plant, operated by Hidroelektrane na Drini, has installed capacity of 315 MW, comprising three 105 MW units. It entered operation in 1989 and has average annual production of around 1,010 GWh.
Its strongest year remains 2010, when generation reached a record 1,283.05 GWh.
The July decline is significant for the western Balkan power market because hydro availability remains one of the most important variables affecting cross-border flows, thermal dispatch and wholesale prices in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro.
