Federal ministry of environemtn in Bosnia and Hercegovina issued the environmental permits to dark coal mine Kakanj for its 4 coal pits. Annual production in this mine is 1.2 mill tons of dark coal.
The government environmental permits confirmed the results of the assessment that the coal mining technological exploration procedures will not endanger the environment. It was also confirmed that water treatment and waste water measures are in order with current regulations/.
Kakanj mine is one of the most important coal supplier to thermal power plant Kakanj.
Kakanj mine management undergone different improvement measures like quality standards and environment management standards ISO9001 and ISO14001. With implementation of this standards the Kakanj mine became first Bosnia energy company with international standards.
