Bosnian power utility EPBiH produced 7,245 GWh of electricity in 2016, which is 5.06 % more than in 2015, and 1.24 % more than planned production according to energy balance for 2016.
The production at thermal power plant Kakanj amounted to 2,094 GWh in 2016, which is 8.66 % more than in 2015. At the same time, TPP Tuzla produced 3,686.4 GWh of electricity, which is 5.74 % more than in 2015 and 4.27 % more than planned in 2016.
Hydropower plants on the Neretva river produced 1,395 GWh of electricity in 2016, which is in accordance with the annual plan, despite unfavorable hydrological conditions. The highest monthly electricity production in 2016 was achieved in October and it amounted to 805 GWh.
Coalmines operated by EPBiH recorded an increase in coal production during 2016. The total amount of coal produced by EPBiH was 4.97 million tons, which is 9.8 % more than in the previous year. The most significant increase in production compared to 2015, was achieved by Kreka and Zenica coalmines, which increased production by 19 % and 15 % respectively. Coal production at Breza coalmine increased by 14.4 % compared to 2015, while Djurdjevik and Gracanica mines increased production by 7.7 % and 3.62 % respectively.
