In the first quarter of this year, Bosnia and Herzegovina exported electricity in amount of 51 million euros, which is 27.5 percent less than the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
In the first quarter of last year, when the hydrological conditions were very favorable, electricity exports amounted to 71 million euros.
However, this year, opportunities for power companies are not that bad because of simultaneous decline of exports and imports of electricity as well.
The imports amounted to 20.8 million euros, which is 25.8 percent less than in the first quarter of 2013, when electricity import amounted to 14 million euros.
The electricity mainly imports the Electric Power Utility HZHB Mostar, which is the supplier of the main industrial consumer – Mostar’s Aluminum.
