Bosnia: Federal Government is prepared to issue guarantees for TPP Banovici project, SEE Energy News
TPP Banovici project envisages construction of new 300 MW thermal power plant near Banovici coal mine, which also supplies coal to TPP Tuzla.
The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) has adopted the Information on the activities of the project for the construction of 350 MW thermal power plant prepared by the brown coal mine (RMU) Banovici.
The Government also gave consent to a draft of the letter of intent which, on behalf of the Council of Ministers, should be addressed to Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure).
The Federal Ministry of Finance is put in charge of the preparation of letter of intent, which will undoubtedly point out the intention of the Government to issue a guarantee on the full amount of the investment needed for the construction of 350 MW TPP Banovici, and send it to the abovementioned institutions once all necessary conditions are fulfilled.

The cost of the project is estimated at some 500 million euros, where the unit should be completed during 2018. The future unit and its output will be owned by the RMU Banovici. It is the larges and most profitable coalmine in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
