Serbian Minister of Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic, said that experts have confirmed that hydro power plants which are planed to be constructed on Lim river would not have bad influence on environment.
“The Study showed that HPPs cannot influence environment badly”, Mihajlovic said on press conference in Serbian Government. “We won’t construct anything if any country in the region is against it”, Mihajlovic underlined. Public will be included.
Canadian company REV is the investor interested in Lim river HPP project, their Brodarevo 1 and 2 project faces serious regional NGO opposition.
She stated that this study of Energy Ministry was forwarded to the competent Ministry in Montenegro. She expects joint meeting for expert diagnosis and Lim HPP construction possibilities.
“We won’t construct anything if any country is against it”, Mihajlovic underlined.
Canadian Company REV should construct two HPPs on Lim, 58 MW strong. This company is ready to invest 145 million EUR in this business and it has invested more than 10 million EUR in geological research, required projects and private land buyout, so far.
Citizens from municipalities near Lim are against the construction of Brodarevo 1 and 2 and they are supported by many nongovernmental organizations from Serbia and Montenegro.
