Unit 5 of nuclear power plant Kozloduy was reconnected to the network on June 5, after a scheduled maintenance period that lasted from April 30. During the repair work, 1,000 MW unit was refilled with fresh nuclear fuel. Scheduled activities for maintenance of the equipment and measures in connection with its long-term operation and improving safety were carried out successfully.
Bulgaria’s sole nuclear power plant, Kozloduy, operates two Russian-designed VVER-1000 reactors of 1,000 MW each. Their operational licenses will expire in 2027 and 2029, respectively.
