Production of electricity in Bulgaria in the period between 1 January and 17 May 2020 has decreased by 10.72 % compared to the same period in 2019 and reached 16.12 TWh, according to the data published by Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator ESO.
Bulgaria’s electricity consumption dropped as well in the same period, by 3.14 % reaching a total of 15.19 TWh. Electricity exports dropped by 22.05 % in the same period to 2.78 TWh, while imports of electricity rose by 54.86 % to 1.85 TWh.
The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network rose by 21.1 % to 581.9 GWh, while RES share in the country’s distribution network increased by 15.25 % to 811.6 GWh.
