In August 2020 production of electricity in Bulgaria decreased by 1.1 % compared to July, to 3,312 GWh, while consumption of electricity also dropped by 1.4 % on monthly basis and amounted to 2,548 GWh, according to Bulgarian National Statistical Institute.
Consumption of natural gas in August 2020 decreased by 8.8 % and amounted to 156 million cubic meters, while its production increased by 25 % and amounted to 5 million cubic meters. Compared to August 2019, production of electricity decreased by 9.5 %, while its consumption fell by 4.6 %. Consumption of natural gas increased by 3.3 % compared to August 2019. In August, production of unleaded petrol decreased by 15 % and amounted to 91,000 tons, while its consumption increased by 28.2 % and amounted to 50,000 tons. Production of diesel in August decreased by 11.5 % compared to the previous month and amounted to 201,000 tons, while its consumption rose by 12.6 % and amounted to 232,000 tons. Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased by 5.3 % and amounted to 40,000 tons, while its production remained the same and amounted to 6,000 tons. At the same period, production of solid fuels increased by 21.2 % to 1,804 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy resource also rose by 19.9 % to 1,867 thousand tons.
