Production of electricity in January 2020 decreased by 2.7 % compared to December, to 3,960 GWh, while consumption of electricity rose by 8.8 % on monthly basis and amounted to 3,675 GWh, according to Bulgarian National Statistical Institute. Consumption of natural gas in January 2020 increased by 7.8 % and amounted to 360 million cubic meters. Compared to January 2019, production of electricity decreased by 13.3 %, while its consumption dropped by 3 %. Consumption of natural gas decreased by 11.3 % compared to January 2019.
In January, production of unleaded petrol increased by 1.4 % and amounted to 149,000 tons, while its consumption rose by 21.2 % and amounted to 40,000 tons. Production of diesel in January decreased by 2.6 % compared to the previous month and amounted to 259,000 tons, while its consumption also dropped by 4.3 % and amounted to 179,000 tons. Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased by 4.9 % and amounted to 43,000 tons, while its production remained the same and amounted to 10,000 tons. At the same period, production of solid fuels decreased by 9.1 % to 2,369 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy resource also dropped by 8.8 % to 2,428 thousand tons.
