Bulgaria: Electricity export increases 84%
, SEE Energy NewsAround 1/5 of the electricity produced in Bulgaria is exported, according to data of the Electricity System Operator (ESO) for the first nine months of 2014.The rate of electricity exports has increased by 84% from the same period of 2013.
By September 7, electricity production in Bulgaria amounted to 31,222 billion KWh, including exports of 5.9 billion KWh.
By July 20, Bulgaria’s electricity exports amounted to 4.5 billion KWh.
The pace of increase in electricity exports, however, decelerated, according to ESO, with the growth rate reaching 155% on an annual basis by July 20.
At the same time, domestic consumption went up by a mere 2% to 25.3 B KWh.
84%, or 26.3 of the total amount of energy produced in the period, was generated by the Kozloduy nuclear power plant and by thermal power plants.
The production of the Kozloduy NPP and thermal power plants went up by 18% on an annual basis.
