According to the data published by Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator ESO, production of electricity in Bulgaria in the period between 1 January and 17 March 2019 has increased by 6.73 % compared to the same period in 2018 and reached 11.02 TWh. Bulgaria‘s electricity consumption also rose in the abovementioned period, by 0.8 % reaching a total of 9.59 TWh. However, electricity exports increased by 76.53 % in the same period to 1.43 TWh. The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network increased by 6.9 % to 282.1 GWh, while RES share in the country‘s distribution network increased by 24.63 % to 387.1 GWh.
