The acquisition of a 100 % capital of Enel Green Power Bulgaria, a local subsidiary of Italian Enel Green Power, which operates 42 MW wind farm complex in northeastern Bulgaria was completed by Swiss-based MET Group.
The statement from the group said that it considers the growth of renewable power generation in central and eastern Europe as a core part of its business strategy going forward, whilst also supporting the energy transition away from coal in Europe. MET’s goal is to build a geographically diversified portfolio of power generation and infrastructure assets, with a substantial renewable asset portfolio.
The transaction was completed on 20 January, following the approval of the Bulgarian Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC).
Enel Green Power Bulgaria, a subsidiary of Italian Enel Green Power, operated 14 wind turbines with a total capacity of 42 MW though 14 fully-owned subsidiaries. The wind turbines are a part of two wind farms on the Black Sea coast – Shabla and Kamen Bryag, each with 21 MW installed capacity.
