In October 2024, according to the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, the production of electricity decreased by 8.4% compared to September, reaching 2,905 GWh. However, electricity consumption rose by 11% on a monthly basis, amounting to 2,608 GWh.
Natural gas consumption saw a significant increase of 15.3% in October, reaching 219 million cubic meters, while production remained unchanged at 1 million cubic meters. Compared to October 2023, electricity production increased by 4.2%, while consumption rose by 7.7%. Natural gas consumption also saw a notable increase of 14.7% compared to the same month last year.
In terms of fuel production and consumption, unleaded petrol production decreased by 0.8%, totaling 123,000 tons, while its consumption rose by 9.8%, reaching 56,000 tons. Diesel production dropped by 3.1%, amounting to 254,000 tons, but consumption surged by 31.9%, totaling 248,000 tons. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) consumption increased by 5.4%, reaching 39,000 tons, while production fell by 22.2%, totaling 7,000 tons.
Lastly, the production of solid fuels saw a significant decrease of 18.2%, totaling 1,177 thousand tons, while consumption also dropped by 11.4%, amounting to 1,305 thousand tons.
