According to the data published by Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator ESO, production of electricity in Bulgaria in the period between 1 and 13 February 2022 has increased by 24.79 % compared to 2021 and reached 7.29 TWh.
In addition, Bulgaria’s electricity consumption rose in the same period, by 5.35 % reaching a total of 5.7 TWh. Surplus electricity amounted to 1.6 TWh GWh so far in 2022, 265.3 % more than in the same period in 2021. Baseload power plants (coal, nuclear) produced a total of 6.29 TWh of electricity in 2022, which is 35.41 % more than in 2021.
The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network rose by 11.23 % to 190.8 GWh, while RES share in the country’s distribution network increased by 20 % to 215.2 GWh.
