According to data from the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, electricity production in November 2025 fell by 12.8% compared to September, reaching 2,769 GWh, while electricity consumption increased by 1.5% month on month to 2,985 GWh, indicating a growing gap between domestic output and demand.
Natural gas consumption rose sharply in November, increasing by 14.2% to 265 million cubic meters, while domestic gas production remained unchanged at just 1 million cubic meters, underlining Bulgaria’s continued reliance on imports. On an annual basis, however, gas consumption declined by 8.6% compared with November 2024.
Year on year, electricity production decreased by 7.9%, while electricity consumption fell by 8.3%, reflecting weaker overall demand compared to the same period last year.
In the oil products segment, unleaded petrol production plunged by 39.1% to 84,000 tons, while consumption dropped by 16.9% to 49,000 tons. Diesel production also declined significantly, falling by 35.2% to 173,000 tons, while diesel consumption decreased by 10.9% to 229,000 tons.
By contrast, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) consumption increased by 17.6% to 40,000 tons, despite a 40% drop in LPG production, which fell to 3,000 tons, highlighting increased dependence on external supply.
In the solid fuels segment, production decreased by 2.2% to 1.564 million tons, while consumption edged down by 0.7% to 1.627 million tons, pointing to relatively stable but slightly weakening demand for coal and related fuels.
