Bulgaria’s electricity production increased in April 2026, rising by 1% month-on-month to 3,761 GWh, according to the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute. At the same time, electricity consumption fell sharply by 15.6%, reaching 2,776 GWh.
On an annual basis, electricity production was up 14% compared to April 2025, while consumption increased by 3.1% over the same period.
In the gas sector, natural gas consumption dropped by 21.1% month-on-month to 247 million cubic meters, while production remained unchanged at 1 million cubic meters. However, compared to April 2025, gas consumption was still higher by 12.8%.
In the oil products segment, production of unleaded petrol declined by 3% to 128,000 tons, while consumption rose by 14.9% to 54,000 tons. In contrast, diesel production increased by 2.5% to 246,000 tons, but consumption fell significantly by 30.7% to 167,000 tons.
Meanwhile, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) consumption decreased by 15.2% to 28,000 tons, while production remained stable at 7,000 tons.
In the solid fuels segment, both indicators declined, with production falling by 34.9% to 624,000 tons and consumption decreasing by 33.4% to 682,000 tons.
