In Dupnitsa municipality at the location of a former ash dump, coal-fired thermal power plant Bobov Dol is planning to build a solar power plant. According to the Regional Environmental Inspectorate, TPP Bobov Dol plans to install solar panels at its recultivated ash dump site near the village of Palatovo, stretching over some 120 hectares.
The plant recorded a net profit in the amount of of 1.3 million euros in 2020, compared to a profit of 1.24 million euros in the previous year. The company’s total revenues rose to 82.5million euros in 2020, compared to 73.3 million euros recorded in 2019. Total expenditures also increased to 81.1 million euros in the same period, from 71.8 million euros a year before. TPP Bobov Dol is 630 MW coal-fired power plant commissioned in 2000, located in southwestern Bulgaria. It was privatized in 2008 and local consortium Energy MK is the plant’s sole owner.
