Two tenders for 2021 were launched by Bulgarian sole nuclear power plant Kozloduy for awarding several contracts with combined value of 28.2 million euros related to various repair works within the regular maintenance program of its two units in 2021.
The first tender, worth 24.5 million euros, is divided into three lots and is related to works on resource management and extension of the operational life of the two units, as well as repairs of equipment and pipelines to ensure their safe exploitation. The second tender, worth 3.7 million euros, is divided into two lots and envisages repairs of electrical equipment and equipment from the power plant’s control and management system.
Originally, NPP Kozloduy had six reactors, but four older 440 MW reactors were shut down in 2007 due to nuclear safety concern of the European Union. The plant currently operates two Soviet-built 1,000 MW reactors, unit 5 and unit 6 which were commissioned in 1987 and 1991 respectively.
