British authorities have decided to maintain a special sanctions license that allows several Bulgarian units of Russia’s Lukoil group to continue operating, extending the expiry date by another six months. This move ensures continued business activity for the affected entities under the current sanctions regime.
According to information from the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI), the general license will now remain valid until 13 August 2026. The authorization covers multiple Bulgaria-based subsidiaries connected to Lukoil, including operations in refining, aviation fuel and bunker fuel.
The license originally took effect on 14 November 2025 and had been set to expire in mid-February 2026. With the latest decision, the UK authorities have prolonged the period during which these Bulgarian companies can carry out certain activities despite the wider UK sanctions framework.
The companies included under the renewed authorization are Lukoil Bulgaria, Lukoil Neftochim Burgas, Lukoil Aviation Bulgaria and Lukoil Bulgaria Bunker, all explicitly listed in documents released by the UK Treasury, confirming their eligibility under the extended license.
