According to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics, net electricity production in Croatia in January 2017 amounted to 1,216 GWh, which is 12.4 % more than in the same month last year, when the production amounted to 1,082 GWh.
During January, 522 GWh of electricity or 42.93 % was produced in hydropower plants, 548 GWh or 45.06 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 106 GWh or 8.72 % of total produced electricity. In this period, Croatia imported 836 GWh of electricity, which is 2.3 % more than in January 2016, while electricity exports stood at 277 GWh, which is 3.8 % less than in January 2016.
Regarding hydrocarbons production, Croatia produced 137 million cubic meters of natural gas in January 2017, which is 9.7 % less than in the same month last year. Natural gas imports stood at 219 million cubic meters or 63.4 % more compared to January 2016. Crude oil production stood at 54,000 tons (1.8 % decrease), while crude oil imports stood at 83,000 tons. Production of petroleum products stood at 203,000 tons in January 2017, which is 250 % more compared to January 2016.
