A total volume of 458,737 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX in August 2019, which is 8.4 % less than in July, of which 455,663 MWh on the day-ahead market and 3,074 MWh on the intraday market.
Average daily base price on day-ahead market in August amounted to 55.87 euros/MWh, which is 5.4 % higher than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 63.66 euros/ MWh, 9.5 % higher compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 63.47 euros/MWh (+ 16.1 %). There are 20 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market, eleven of which have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the dayahead market in August amounted to 14,699 MWh.
CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 August this year, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
