Last week, Croatian Ministry of Environment and Energy, electricity transmission system operator HOPS, energy market operator HROTE and Energy Institute Hrvoje Pozar have signed an agreement on the analysis of renewable energy sources (RES) development in Croatia between 2007 and 2016.
The signing of this agreement is a first step in the development of integrated analysis of the effects of the use and investments in renewable energy sources in Croatia in the 2007-2016 period. The effects will be analyzed from technical, technological, financial, legal and social aspects, thus providing an insight for the future of RES sector in the country. The results of the analysis will be used to monitor the renewable energy market in the future.
The statement from HOPS states that the use of renewable energy sources is one of the priorities of energy policy both in Croatia and in the European Union, adding that the future of the energy sector is in the implementation of renewable energy sources, not only for electricity generation, but also for heating and cooling.
According to data from HROTE, total installed capacity in facilities that produce electricity from renewable energy sources in Croatia stood at 637.48 MW at the end of September 2016.
