A total of 912,694.6 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX in January 2026, 8% less than in December. Of this, 658,973.3 MWh were traded on the day-ahead market and 253,721.3 MWh on the intraday market. Compared to January 2025, the total traded volume was 21.2% lower.
The average daily base price on the day-ahead market in January reached 143.16 euros/MWh, up 26.6% from the previous month, while the average euro-peak price climbed to 165.66 euros/MWh, 32.1% higher than December. On the intraday market, the average price stood at 146.43 euros/MWh, marking a 29.7% increase compared to December.
The average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in January amounted to 21,257.2 MWh. CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). The intraday market was launched in April 2017, and on 19 June 2018, CROPEX day-ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through the Croatian–Slovenian border.
