In August 2020, net electricity production in Croatia amounted to 931 GWh, which is 9.3 % higher compared to August last year, when the production amounted to 852 GWh, according to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
During August, 308 GWh of electricity or 33.1 % was produced in hydropower plants, 413 GWh or 44.4 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 131 GWh or 14.1 % of total produced electricity. During this period, Croatia imported 1,010 GWh of electricity, 10.5 % less compared to last August (1,128 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 365 GWh, 18.9 % more than in August 2019 (307 GWh). Regarding hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 75 million cubic meters of natural gas in August 2020, 14.8 % less compared to August last year. Natural gas imports stood at 204 million cubic meters, 29.9 % more than in August 2019. Crude oil production stood at 49,000 tons, which is 12.5 % lower compared to the same month last year. Production of petroleum products stood at 301,000 tons in August 2020, which is 27.8 % less than in the same month last year.
