Households in Croatia will continue to receive support on gas bills after the Government decided to extend a subsidy scheme aimed at limiting price increases. The measure will remain in force until the end of September 2026, helping to offset part of the final cost of gas supply and ease the burden on consumers.
Under the extended arrangement, compensation will vary by distribution zones, with suppliers reimbursed for the difference between market prices and regulated levels. Authorities warned that, without this intervention, average household gas prices could rise by up to 7.6%, highlighting the importance of continued state support.
Funding for the program will be secured through the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, with additional resources coming from revenues generated by the sale of emission allowances. These funds will be used to ensure timely payments to gas suppliers and maintain the functioning of the support mechanism.
Officials emphasized that the Government will continue to closely monitor energy market developments and remains ready to introduce further measures if necessary. The overarching goal is to preserve supply stability while protecting consumers from ongoing volatility in energy prices.
