Croatia will keep regulated petrol and diesel prices unchanged for another seven days, using further reductions in excise duties and supplier margins to offset rising wholesale fuel costs.
From Sept. 8, petrol will remain capped at €1.67/litre and diesel at €1.79/litre. Without government intervention, official calculations indicated prices would have risen to €1.73 and €1.93 respectively.
The government cut petrol excise duty by another €0.025/litre and diesel excise by €0.09/litre, while supplier margins for both fuels were reduced by a further €0.02/litre.
The diesel excise rate is now seven cents below the EU minimum normally permitted, following temporary approval from the European Commission.
Other products will rise. Blue diesel will increase to €1.34/litre, LPG to €1.33/kg and bottled LPG to €1.90/kg.
The government estimated that without any intervention petrol would cost about €1.88/litre and diesel around €2.10/litre, underscoring the growing fiscal and regulatory role of price controls as international fuel costs rise.
