HEP ODS, a subsidiary of state-owned power utility HEP in charge of electricity distribution, announced that it has commissioned new underwater electricity transmission line between the islands of Silba and Premuda in the Adriatic Sea, thus reconnecting Premuda to the national electricity network.
The statement from the company said that total investment in the underwater cable was almost 120,000 euros. The island of Premuda was disconnected from the network in 2019 when the existing undersea cable was damaged.
This project is part of HEP ODS’ investments totaling 130 million euros earmarked for the rehabilitation and construction of electricity distribution network and facilities across Croatia in 2020. A significant amount of the overall investment goes to the Croatian coastal areas and islands.
