Net electricity production in Croatia in March 2020 amounted to 1,098 GWh, which is 30 % higher compared to March last year, when the production amounted to 844 GWh. During March, 517 GWh of electricity or 47.1 % was produced in hydropower plants, 294 GWh or 26.8 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 202 GWh or 18.4 % of total produced electricity, according to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
During this period, Croatia imported 868 GWh of electricity, 21 % less compared to last March (1,103 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 425 GWh, 5.8 % less than in March 2019 (451 GWh). Regarding hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 82 million cubic meters of natural gas in March 2019, 14.6 % less compared to March last year. Natural gas imports stood at 173 million cubic meters, 9.5 % more than in March 2019. Crude oil production stood at 51,000 tons, which is 12 % lower compared to the same month last year. Production of petroleum products stood at 297,000 tons in March 2020, compared to 99,000 tons produced in the same month last year.
