Croatia set a record for the share of renewable energy sources in the energy mix on October 20. On that day, almost half of the consumption was covered by renewable sources.
In October, Croatia imported 263 GWh of electricity and exported 23 GWh, resulting in a difference of 240 GWh on the import side, according to the report published by the Croatian Renewable Energy Association.
This import is a consequence of the shutdown of the nuclear power plant Krsko on October 6. The nuclear power plant generated 42 GWh in October.
Solar power plants in Croatia achieved a 2% share in the energy mix in October. Wind farms produced 204 GWh of electricity, accounting for a 14% share of available energy, while hydropower plants had a share of less than 30%.
In the first ten months of this year, 184 MW of solar power plants were installed, averaging 20.5 MW per month. It is estimated that Croatia needs to reach 470 MW of installed solar capacity by the end of the year.
