Renewable energy developer RP Global has expanded its presence in Croatia’s power sector by commissioning its first solar project in the country, completing the 21 MW Novalja solar plant on the island of Pag.
The project entered commercial operation approximately one year after construction began, marking a new phase of investment activity for the company. RP Global had previously entered Croatia’s renewable energy market through two wind farms developed in 2016, which were later divested in late 2021.
Financing for the Novalja project was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which provided €12.2 million, enabling the transition from construction to full operation.
A number of international firms contributed to the delivery of the facility. Engineering services were provided by Bosnia-based Elnos Group, while Spain’s Solar Steel supplied the mounting structures. Solar modules were delivered by LONGi Solar, and inverter technology was provided by Huawei.
With commercial operations now underway, the Novalja solar plant will also benefit from market premium incentives secured through Croatia’s 2024 renewable energy auction.
The project strengthens Croatia’s renewable generation capacity and marks RP Global’s return to long-term infrastructure ownership in the country, following its earlier involvement in the wind energy segment.
