Traded volume in September 2020 on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX was 10.4 % lower compared to the same month last year. A total volume of 472,444 MWh of electricity was traded on CROPEX in September 2020, which is 9.1 % less than in August, of which 431,910 MWh on the day-ahead market and 40,534 MWh on the intraday market.
Average daily base price on day-ahead market in September amounted to 45.86 euros/MWh, which is 20.3 % higher than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 49.97 euros/MWh, 23 % higher compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 45.69 euros/MWh, 27.7 % higher compared to August. There are 20 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market, twelve of which have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in September amounted to 14,397 MWh.
For the delivery on 28 September, the hourly volume of 601 MWh was traded what makes the record volume traded for a single hour since the start of the intraday market. The highest hourly volume was registered for the delivery of energy from 19:00 to 20:00 in the amount of 601 MWh. In 33 separate transactions in that hour, volume weighted average price amounted to 86.32 euros/MWh.
CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June last year, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
