According to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics, net electricity production in Croatia in May 2021 amounted to 1,035 GWh, which is 19 % higher compared to May last year, when the production amounted to 870 GWh.
During May, 677 GWh of electricity or 65.4 % was produced in hydropower plants, 122 GWh or 11.8 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 146 GWh or 14.1 % of total produced electricity. During this period, Croatia imported 917 GWh of electricity, 19.1 % more compared to last May (770 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 556 GWh, 50.2 % higher compared to May 2020 (370 GWh).
Regarding hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 69 million cubic meters of natural gas in May 2021, 12.7 % less compared to May last year. Natural gas imports stood at 126 million cubic meters, 17.1 % less than in May 2020. Crude oil production stood at 47,000 tons, which is 7.8 % lower compared to the same month last year. Production of petroleum products stood at 332,000 tons in May 2021, compared to 284,000 tons in the same month last year.
