Renewable energy developer DRI has refinanced a €50.6 million senior construction bridge facility for its 60-MW Ruginoasa wind farm in northeastern Romania.
Austrian lender Kommunalkredit provided the refinancing to Moldova Eolian, the project company behind the facility in Iasi county.
Ruginoasa was the first new wind farm completed in Romania in more than a decade and is one of four renewable assets operated by DRI in the country. The portfolio also includes three solar plants.
DRI is the renewable energy arm of Ukrainian energy group DTEK. It is expanding across Romania, Italy, Poland and Croatia through greenfield development, partnerships with local companies and acquisitions of operating assets.
The refinancing strengthens the wind farm’s long-term capital structure after construction and gives DRI additional flexibility to pursue new projects.
Romania has become a central market for the developer as investment in wind, solar and storage accelerates. For lenders, the refinancing also signals renewed appetite for operational Romanian wind assets after a long period of limited new construction.
