Israeli renewable energy company Econergy Renewable Energy has acquired its partner Nofar Energy’s 50% stake in the Ratești solar power plant, Romania’s largest solar facility with 155 MW capacity. Following the deal, Econergy will hold full ownership and plans to add a 120 MW battery energy storage system valued at €32 million.
The acquisition was completed through Econergy International, a subsidiary in which Econergy holds a 75.2% stake. Nofar Energy’s shares were transferred for €45.6 million, payable in three installments by June 2026. Econergy will also take control of a €14.9 million shareholder loan previously provided by Nofar, expecting a capital gain of around €13 million from the transaction.
Located in Argeș County, northwest of Bucharest, the Ratești plant is a key asset in Romania’s renewable energy network. The planned battery system is projected to provide enhanced grid flexibility and stability, generating €15 million in annual revenues and €12 million in EBITDA.
Econergy’s renewable portfolio in Romania now totals 3.5 GW across solar, wind, and storage projects, including 473 MW operational or ready to connect, 763 MW under construction, and 395 MW in development by year-end. Its international project pipeline exceeds 14 GW, underscoring its expanding presence in the European renewable energy market.
