To prevent the reduction of the power supply for citizens, the Serbian government ordered the public enterprise Elektromreza Srbije that all net cross-border transmission capacities are directed to Elektroprivreda Srbije, starting last night at midnight until 29 February.
The government proposed this measure because extremely low temperatures and heavy precipitation caused a lack of electricity, and the measures taken so far exhausted the possibilities for increasing production and supply of electricity in Serbia.
In order to protect the energy sector of the state, the Serbian government also decided that Friday 17 February be a non-working day.
Also, the Serbian government recommends that public authorities and institutions, agencies, local governments and businesses to minimise work on 13 and 14 February or to suspend work completely if possible.
